October brought a vibrant mix of history, culture, and fashion on my latest NYC adventure. We kicked off Friday with a delightful lunch at Corner Bar, a chic spot in the Nine Orchard Hotel. The Tenement Museum followed—I’ve heard from various New Yorkers over the years that it was a favorite. I finally went, and it was enjoyable! Afterward, SoHo shopping (always on my NYC itineraries!) led to great finds at must-visit boutiques. We ended the day with dinner at I Sodi in West Village.
Save my list of must-visit shops for your next trip: The Webster, The Line, Bonpoint, Alo Yoga,
Kirna Zabete, Material Good, Essentials Antwerp, Rachel Comey, Rixo, Jacquemus, Gucci, Marni, Staud, Ganni,
MOMA store, What Goes Around Comes Around, The Real Real, Celine, Chloe, Chanel
Saturday started with a brisk walk through Midtown. I love taking in the window displays and buildings when the streets are free of crowds! We then made our way to The Met, where the Collecting Inspiration: Edward C. Moore at Tiffany & Co. exhibit was a true highlight. Exploring the life and design legacy of Moore, we admired the beautiful silver pieces crafted under his direction and the eclectic collection that inspired them. Afterward, we wandered through the period rooms in the American Wing and European Wing, soaking in the rich history and decorative arts of different eras, all elegantly displayed in the museum’s grand halls.
Lunch at the elegant Café Ginori inside Bergdorf Goodman was just what we needed—the beautiful china they serve on made the dining experience feel even more special, adding an extra layer of charm to an already gorgeous setting! And, of course, no visit is complete without a bit of shopping. Bergdorf is one of those places where you can easily spend an entire day—and enjoy every second of it. I always make a stop on the third floor for the stunning designer clothing, but the shoe department on two is another favorite. Floor seven is perfect for browsing unique home accessories, gifts, and the children’s department, full of delightful finds.
No trip to New York is complete without seeing a broadway show! A pre-theater dinner at Le Rock, perfectly timed for the 8:00 pm show of & Juliet at the Stephen Sondheim Theater, added a touch of Broadway magic to the evening. Transportation note—the pedicab felt like the quickest way to make it to the show on time! Just make sure to clarify their rate per minute before hopping in.
(We had a good recommendation from a theater-loving friend of mine for post-show fun at So & So’s, a piano bar in Hell’s Kitchen, but we were regretfully too tired to go.)
A late Sunday afternoon flight allowed for a morning walk in Central Park, a sumptuous brunch at Le Grand Boucherie, one of the most authentic French restaurants in Manhattan, and some last-minute shopping before heading to the airport—where I had to get a photo op at FAO Schwarz (at LaGuardia Airport) to get my kids riled up!
All in all, it was a weekend full of everything I love about New York—great food, the best shopping, and endless, inspiring art and design. Already counting down the days until the next trip—NYC, you never disappoint!
